Many people, most women, suffer from fluid retention in the usual way.

This disorder may be a symptom of another disease or a consequence of food, climate or other external factors .

This problem makes us gain volume and feel swollen and heavy, with tiredness and desire to get home to take off our clothes and shoes and rest.

We should always go to the doctor if we have symptoms that worry us and persist in time, especially if we suffer several different.

Fluid retention, for example, may have to do with a thyroid problem.

In any case, if it is something punctual or not serious we can resort to foods with diuretic properties, which are those that favor the elimination of liquids naturally.

Diuretic foods

We have many foods with diuretic properties, which are those that stand out for their content in minerals (potassium) and water.

In general, these foods are very cleansing and balance our body fluids by causing an increase in urine.

In this case we have selected three medicinal foods that not only fight against fluid retention, but also purify our body and promote good digestive health.

Rooibos

Rooibos, although known under the name of tea, is a medicinal plant from an African bush. Its name means “red bush”and in fact that is the color of this infusion.

Its great advantage lies in the fact that, since it is not a tea, it has no teine and yet adds a great variety of health benefits:

  • It favors the elimination of liquids, at the same time that it supplies us with many minerals (potassium, iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium)
  • Contains different antioxidant components
  • Improves skin problems
  • It is an excellent remedy for problems of the mouth, teeth and throat
  • Balances the nervous system
  • Prevents cardiovascular disease
  • Decrease blood sugar
  • It is a great alkalizing agent
  • Combats inflammations and pains
  • Improves many digestive disorders

Mint

Mint is a medicinal plant very refreshing and delicious taste, with a high diuretic power and the virtue of deflating parts of the body such as belly and legs.

This property is achieved thanks to its content in flavonoids, which act on the kidney and favor the elimination of water, sodium and urea. At the same time they facilitate the elimination of toxins from the body.

Peppermint is also very digestive and improves the metabolism of fats, making it an excellent supplement in slimming diets.

Fennel

Infusion of fennel is highly recommended when we want to lose weight.

Also, fennel is also very beneficial for women who have the need to regulate hormones naturally.

Diuretic drink

Let’s prepare a delicious diuretic drink with these three medicinal ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons rooibos tea (20 g)
  • 1 tablespoon dried mint (10 g)
  • 1 tablespoon fennel (5 g)
  • 4 cups water (1 liter)

Note : Although fennel brings natural sweetness to the drink, if we wish, we can sweeten it with stevia, which is also diuretic.

What should you do?

  • First, boil the water with the fennel seeds for 10 minutes.
  • After the indicated time, we will put out the fire and we will add the rooibos and the mint.
  • Cover the container, let stand 5 minutes and pour the drink.

How do we take it?

We will take our diuretic drink in fasting and always out of the meals so that it fulfills its function, in the morning and the afternoon.

We will avoid taking it at night so that its diuretic effects do not interrupt rest.

We can take it on the days we feel the fluid retention, or as a cure for one or two weeks in a row, then rest another.
