  • Optional: 2 branches of licorice. Licorice will bring flavor to the tea and is also a plant used to lose weight.
  • Also optional is some type of sweetener avoiding that they are refined sugars. You can use stevia, for example.

Preparation

The preparation is so easy. The ideal would be to purify the water first by passing it through some filter, but it is something that we do not all have at home. That is why this step we can skip. You can also use mineral water , in fact this type of water will keep it better if you prepare it at night and take it in the morning, for example.

Preparation of ginseng tea should be done in a clay pot, which preserves its properties better, but nothing happens if you do in a metal container. Place the water in a pot and bring to a boil . You should not let it boil simply that the water reaches a temperature of about 90 degrees just before it boils. Then throw a piece of dried ginseng root (you can save the rest for another preparation). Spending more or less will depend on how strong you want it and how much water you have used. A piece of ginseng from a finger or an inch high can be used for a cup.

Add the licorice and leave it maintaining that temperature without boiling for at least 20 minutes . Then remove it from the heat and let it sit for another 10 minutes. Strain it and the resulting liquid will be your infusion. It is advisable to use a glass container avoiding plastic.

How to take ginseng tea to lose weight

It is a fairly strong drink so you should not take it on an empty stomach as it could irritate the gastric mucosa and it is not advisable to drink more than two cups a day. It is best to take it before 6 o’clock in the afternoon to avoid getting out of sleep. Our recommendation is to take it with breakfast (after having eaten something solid) or mid-morning.

The ideal and advisable thing to lose weight is to take a cup of ginseng tea a day for a period of three months. Then take a rest and if you want to resume it for another three months.

Contraindications of ginseng

Ginseng tea is a fairly strong drink and that is why you have to take precautions and is discouraged to certain people. The contraindications of ginseng are as follows:

  • Children, especially those under 12 years.
  • Pregnant or lactating women.
  • People who are on antidepressant drugs or blood thinners. In fact, if you are taking any type of strong medication it is advisable to consult your doctor.
  • People treated with hypoglycemics (such as diabetics), since ginseng contains hypoglycemics and could alter the medication.
  • People with pathologies such as multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis.
