The kefir is a powerful food with interesting qualities  probiotic , which means that we have a very wonderful food rich in living organisms. These microorganisms help positively not only to increase, but to maintain and improve our intestinal flora.

This is an extremely important quality, since, as you surely know, in the intestinal flora we find essential bacteria that help us to enjoy good health. Why? Very simple: it is known both scientifically and medically that an imbalance or an alteration in our flora tends to have negative consequences for health.

However, we must differentiate between  water kefir and  kefir milk . In the first case, which is the one we are talking about on this occasion, it is a kefir made with purified water. Whereas, in the second case, we find a more traditional kefir made from milk (from which the beneficial lactic ferments are obtained).

What is water kephir?

In the first place we must know what is and what consists in kefir. We are faced with a wonderful probiotic food , with the appearance of nodules or grains (which conceal most of all its probiotic qualities).

In the case of water kefir , it is a food that is obtained from the fermentation of different ingredients, not using fermented dairy products. This brings interesting health benefits, especially in those who suffer from lactose intolerance, are allergic to milk or simply do not want to consume it. Also, it is excellent for vegans.

In these wonderful nodules or grains we find in different symbiotic associations microorganisms, such as bacteria, among which we distinguish  Lactobacillus desidiosus, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus acidophilus and lactic streptococci .

We can also distinguish yeasts, such as: Sacharomyces delbruckii and Candida kephir. All these ingredients are the protagonists that kefir is a tremendously healthy natural product.

The Benefits of Water Kephir

Useful in case of digestive affections

The kefir of water is very interesting in case of affections and problems of the digestive system , since it has a soothing effect at digestive level, besides acting as a good depurative intestinal level.

Among other things, it  favors the proper elimination of intestinal gas and flatulence , by helping our body to be able to eliminate the various intestinal putrefactions that can alter our digestive health.

In addition, it  is useful in case of slow digestion  and other digestive problems. For example, it is very interesting after having suffered a case of  gastroenteritis .

Regenerates our intestinal flora

As we mentioned earlier,  water kefir is especially beneficial in case of gastroenteritis , as it not only helps to calm the symptoms and discomfort that may arise with a stomach virus, but also helps to  regenerate the intestinal flora .

Kefir water recipe to make it at home

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of hydrated nodules of kefir.
  • 60 gr. of cane sugar or panela.
  • 2 dates or a handful of raisins.
  • Half lemon.
  • 1 liter of water.

You also need a glass container, a cloth or canvas and an elastic band.

Preparation of water kefir:

  1. First steps. Put the water in the glass container. Then add half a lemon and add it, along with water kephir nodules, raisins (or dates) and whole-grain sugar or panela.
  2. Cover it with a cloth or cloth and then with an elastic band. Carefully shake well so ingredients are mixed properly
  3. Leave it at room temperature for 2 or 3 days. That way we will get it fermente.
  4. After this time the kefir will have fermented.
  5. Remove dates or raisins. Strain the kefir and reserve the nodules.
  6. Wash the nodes and container. You will be able to use them again.

How to conserve water kefir:

To keep the kefir of water it is best to store it in a glass bottle covered with a cork. On the other hand if you do not want to make more kefir for a few days, you can reserve kefir nodules in a boat with water and sugar.

How to take the kefir of water:

The ideal is to consume it both in fasting and before meals; in this way we will assimilate it much better. However, if you do not like or can not stand to consume carbon dioxide, you can serve it in a glass and stir the liquid well for a few seconds.

How to reactivate the kefir nodules of water ?:

Re-reacting water kefir nodules is very useful for when you want to re-prepare more kefir. For this, you just have to wash them well and follow the normal process of elaboration that we have discussed in the previous lines.

But if you are not going to re-kephir in a few days you can freeze themand reuse them again when you want.
