Taking into account that breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, there is no doubt that dinner becomes an equally important meal , since with it we keep our metabolism active and avoid feeling hungry throughout the night, which can lead us to wake up several times and rest badly.

In this sense, if enjoying a healthy breakfast is simple, preparing a healthy dinner is just as easy. For this last meal of the day, it is best to consume light foods, with few calories and no fat. As we know, our body tends to burn fewer calories at night precisely because of lack of activity, so we should forget sweet or rich products in refined floursand replace them with healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and high in protein turkey or chicken breast).

But although we dine light, it is always advisable to have dinner at a certain time . Especially at an hour away from bedtime, since if we eat dinner and lie down within a few minutes, we can interrupt digestion.

While breakfast should be as nutritious and healthy as possible, away from typical products but in reality little suitable as traditional breakfast cereals or typical  cookies , in the case of dinner it is recommended that it be light.

And what is more appropriate? It is advised, above all, to choose foods rich in protein and avoid those rich in carbohydrates (simple and complex). In fact, it must contribute between 15 and 25% of the calories consumed daily, but the truth is that in most of the times we tend to exceed this amount.

However, the fact is that depending on the nutritionist with whom you speak will indicate that it is acceptable to eat fruit at dinner or cerealand those who do not advise it at all. The reality is that  if you feel like eating fresh fruit or cereals you can do it without problems , because while fresh fruit will always bring incredible benefits to your body and interesting nutritional properties, grain also will do the same ( as long as, yes , are whole and contain no added sugars.

What time should we have dinner? When is better

The time, of course, should be determined depending on the time when our body has the need to eat to their fill; that is, the moment we begin to feel hungry.

First, the most appropriate – and recommended – is to establish and maintain a schedule during which to dine daily.

Regarding the time, it is clear that this is a personal matter of each one. But, yes, it is advisable to have dinner for at least one to two hours before going to bed . Therefore, if you habitually go to bed at 11:00 pm, it is best to have dinner at 9:00 p.m.

What time is better to have dinner?

The reason? If we go to bed later our digestive system does not have enough time to be able to digest normally the food we eat, so that we tend to gain weight through a greater number of calories.

How many times have you not noticed that after dinner and go to bed, within a few hours you wake up in your dreams because you suffer from stomach upset, heartburn and / or gas. Those are the consequences of not having left at least 3 hours between dinner and going to bed.

Some useful tips to help you with your dinner

However, it  is best to try to dine earlier than we usually do . In this sense, there is no doubt that the problem of many Spaniards who wake up each morning with sleep, swollen and distressed, is due to the fact that they either dine late and go to bed immediately, or they eat a lot and in large quantities.

Therefore, our digestive system can not do the digestion well, we slept badly and the next day we can get up with abdominal swelling, stomach upset and uncomfortable gases, besides feeling lethargic.

Because of this, it  is best to try to eat dinner even sooner . The best? Do it between 8:00 pm and 9:00 p.m., to give our digestive system enough time to have done most of the digestion process before going to bed.

What time is better to have dinner?

And what to do if it makes us hungry before going to bed for having dinner earlier?

Although our own body gets accustomed to the early hours of the dinner depending on how we practice for a few days, it is possible that both in the first moments and at certain times can give us hunger just before bed.

For these cases,  a good option is to prepare a relaxing infusion , which will also be useful to calm our nervous system, our mind and will be very useful to reassure us, helping us to better sleep.

The most suitable are infusions made with  melissa, chamomile, valerian or tila . Its preparation is very simple, since you only have to put in a saucepan the equivalent of a cup of water and when the water starts to boil add a teaspoon of the plant. Let it boil for 3 minutesand after this time turn off the heat, cover and let stand another 5 minutes. List! Just paste it, get it in your favorite cup and drink it.
